Today we are happy to release the first ‘day’ of a new multi-part tutorial series by Cgtuts+ regular Ivan Krushkov. This in-depth series focuses on the creation of an exterior scene in Maya. In day 1 we’ll start the project off by modeling our environment from the ground up, exploring the many different modeling tools and techniques Maya has to offer!
Maya Exterior Environment Creation – Day 2
Today Ivan Krushkov brings us day 2 of his Exterior Environment Creation
tutorial series for Maya. In today’s post Ivan will wrap up the
modeling portion of the project by adding the remaining details to the
scene. With the modeling complete, he’ll move onto cleaning up and
prepare the geometry for UVMapping.
Maya Exterior Environment Creation – Day 3
As many of you know, uvmapping can be a difficult and time consuming
task, not to mention confusing to those with little experience in the
area. In day 3 of the Exterior Environment Creation tutorial series.
Ivan will guide us through the process of uvmapping the entire exterior
scene using a combination of Maya’s built in mapping tools and Headus
UVLayout, a third party uvmapping program.
Maya Exterior Environment Creation – Day 4
In day 4 of the Exterior Environment Creation tutorial series, Ivan will
cover the basics of texturing the scene using Maya and Photoshop. We’ll
look at creating diffuse, bump, specular and displacement maps for our
scene, as well as setting up the necessary shaders in Maya.

Today we bring the fifth and final part of Ivan Krushkov’s Exterior
Environment Creation tutorial series. In day 5 we’ll finish up the
texturing work by adding the final details to our maps, before rendering
our scene and moving into Photoshop for final compositing and color
