3dmotive and William Kladis continue with Part 2 of The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Cascade, picking up right where we left off last week. This course continues to refine the skills you are learning to better grasp Cascade in UDK.Volume 2 of the Cascade Beginner’s Guide starts by taking you through the entire process of building your first Health Pickup particle FX, adding smoke and a light ray to the pickup, and testing it in game. Then, we move on to the basics of Flipbooks and fire, go over how to create a smoking rocket trail, creating a lightning ball effect, and wrap up with some bonus materials on improving flippbooks using After Effects.Be on the lookout for Volumes 3 next week, where we will continue with lessons covering the Orbit Module, ribbons, optimization, swirls and vortexes, and even create a flaming sword FX from scratch! This week, 3dmotive wraps up our monster series from William Kladis on the complete introduction to Visual FX inside of UDK.
